Barlovento and INCOME (an IGI Group Company) sign Agreement in Egypt
Barlovento Recursos Naturales and the International Company for Petroleum and Industrial Services (Income), an Egyptian company working in electricity, petroleum, renewables and other industrial services, signed an agreement that seeks for both companies to strengthen their positions in the continuously growing renewable energy sector in Egypt.
The aim of this partnership is to complement each other's strengths with the expertise both companies possess in wind energy. Barlovento's extended experience after working in renewable energy projects in over 50 countries around the world, and Income's track record of more than 40 years of local activity in the fields of electricity, transport and environment. Both companies have previous experience in renewables energies in Egypt, and have participated in several wind and solar projects.
The alliance will permit Barlovento and Income to offer a complete portfolio of services for the wind energy sector to their clients, during phases of the project: development, construction and exploitation.
Egypt has about 550 MW of wind power currently installed, and there are some projects in development phase. The plans for the near future are to install 7200 megawatts, reaching 12% of the country's electricity generated by wind in 2020.
