Last Sunday 8th April, Bolivian President Evo Morales, inaugurated Yunchará FV plant, it is the first photovoltaic solar plant connected to the Bolivian National Interconnected System, located in Yunchará, Tarija.
Barlovento carried out the Technical, Economic, Social and Environmental Study (TESA) and Final Design of the plant contracted by Empresa Eléctrica Guaracachi [1], subsidiary of ENDE [2] (Bolivian National Electric Company). During the first months of 2016, Barlovento carried out the solar radiation, geotechnical, topographic, electrical, environmental, economic and design studies needed for the construction this plant, which is now formed by more than 19.000 solar panels and generates 5 MW.
During the inauguration, Morales declared his aim to “make Bolivia the power core of South America” to achieve this goal, the Bolivian Government plans to add 1.000 MW to the country’s power store in the year 2019.
Barlovento has been working in Bolivia since 2012, carrying out different projects related to wind and photovoltaic energies, as well as studies on the electrical grid.
