Barlovento will at ANDREC 2016 [1], the Renewable Energy Summit which will be held in Bogotá, Colombia, from the 30th November to the 2nd December.
Colombia is expected to become the next opportunity for de development of solar and wind projects, due to its size, its large growth and its energy needs. In the next decade, Colombia might get at the same level as Chile or Mexico, and by the year 2028, the 10% of the power produced in the country is intended to come from renewable sources.
Barlovento has been working in solar and wind projects in Colombia for ten years.
But the summit will not just focused on Colombia, but in the whole Andean region: Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia. The Andes is an up and coming region for the development of renewable energy, with great potential for solar and wind development. Hydropower has dominated the landscape for renewable electricity generation, but recent droughts and a growing government drive for diversification have seen solar and wind technologies surface as potential growth markets in the region. That is why the slogan for this summit is "Awakening of the Sleeping Gigant of Renewable Energy".
