New Procedure "Evaluation of Site-Specific Wind Conditions"
MEASNET has released version 2 of their procedure “Evaluation of Site-Specific Wind Conditions”.
This procedure defines the methodology and requirements for assessing the site conditions relevant for design and structural integrity of a wind turbine. This procedure will improve the traceability of the results and the comparability among results from studies made by different companies.
After the release of the first version, this document has evolved into an internationally well-recognized definition of a complete procedure for assessing the site conditions. The scope covers all the stage of the process, such as wind measurements and data evaluation, as well as extrapolation of such data (long-term assessment, wind field modelling, extreme winds and uncertainty). As main improvement, the new version includes more explicit and in higher detail explanations on wind turbine energy yield assessment and utilisation of remote sensing measurement techniques.
The MEASNET expert group is currently preparing a Round Robin test in order to make the new procedure operational. This test will be open for external participants, for further information, please contact contactus@measnet.com.
The MEASNET expert group is also participating in the preparation of the new international IEC 61400-15 standard, in which this procedure will be included, in order to do so a liaison of the IEC 61400-15 group with MEASNET has been formed.
Barlovento is member of MEASNET and has been participating in this work group for years together with public and private companies from all around the world carrying out wind turbines tests, site assessments, on site and remote wind measurements…
