The construction and commissioning of the wind farms San Julián (40 MW), Warnes (14 MW) y El Dorado (54 MW) are to accelerate the development of wind energy generation in Bolivia, as their capacity will quadruple the wind generation already installed in the country and will make it easier to achieve the 74% of wind generation the Bolivian Government intends to reach in 2025.
Barlovento carried out the measurements needed for the assessment of the projects through a measurements campaign in which other areas of the country were also assessed. Later, by a public tender, Ende Corani [1] commissioned Barlovento to carry out the Technical, Economic, Social and Environmental study for Warnes Wind Plant [2], one of the three that are to be built now.
Vestas [3] has been the company selected to provide the wind turbines to b used in this project, being Vestas first in the Andean country.
Barlovento has been working in the region since 2009 with our branches in Bolivia, Peru and Chile.
