The consortium led by Grupo Barlovento and Vortex FDC SL [1] was awarded to elaborate the New Wind Atlas of Peru [2] for the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) of the Government of Peru.
The 8th of January, MINEM [3] informed on its web of the completion of the studies on the wind and hydroelectric potential of the country in which Barlovento and Vortex have been working. The wind potential study has been carried out with funds from PROSEMER and the result has been an up-dated atlas, a powerful tool for promoting the investments in wind generation. The new wind atlas allows the cartographic visualization and the calculation of the wind potential in the different areas of the Andean country.
The tool is available on MEM’s web, through this link: Wind Atlas [2]. Moreover, on the web Micro-Renova Peru [4], you can perform simulations to calculate a first estimation of the power potential of a small power system by means of small wind energy, in rural or urban areas for the application of distributed generation.
