Last April, the contract for the financing of the project “Photovoltaic Solar Plant Yunchará-Tarija” was signed witnessed by the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Power, Luis Alberto Sánchez, the Viceminister of Electricity and Alternative Energy and relevant authorities from ENDE Corporation [1]. Barlovento has participated in this project by elaborating the TESA (technical, economical, environmental and social) feasibility study.
Barlovento has successfully finished and presented the solar irradiation, geotechnical, topographic, electrical, environmental, economical and design studies required for the construction of this plant.
This project will exploit the high solar irradiation in the plateau of the department of Tarija for the generation of 5 MWp, contributing to the change in the Bolivian power matrix. The solar plant will be located at the East of Yunchará and will be the first project of this type in the department of Tarija.
In 2020, and complying with the objectives marked in the Social and Economic Development Plan 202, Tarija may reach a generation of 2800 MW.
