Barlovento Recursos Naturales has resulted awardee of the public tender COR-012/2015 tendered by Corani for the elaboration of the Technical, Economic, Social and Environmental Study (TESA) for the Project Santa Cruz Wind Farm – “Warnes” with a nominal power of 20 MW.
Within this project, the wind resource, geotechnical, topographic, electrical, environmental and logistic studies needed for the future construction of the plant in the area of Santa Cruz de la Sierra will be carried out. Barlovento has resulted awardee of this tender due to its great expertise in the realization of such studies and its presence in Bolivia.
This new project belongs to the actions taken by the Bolivian Government in order to change the national energy matrix and integrate renewable energies in the Bolivian generator industry. Nowadays, a wind plant with 3 MW is in operation in Bolivia, Quollpana I, which is composed of two wind turbines of 1.5 MW each; a second wind farm, Qollpana II, is under construction and it will consist of 8 wind turbines of 3 MW each, both plants are located at great height. Besides, the government is studying different projects for the exploitation of solar photovoltaic and biomass energies.
