Barlovento will carry out the design and technical consultancy of a photovoltaic solar plant in Bolivia.
Barlovento Recursos Naturales has resulted awardee of the public tender IPI/016/015 published by Empresa Eléctrica Guarachi S.A. for the elaboration of the Technical, Economic, Social and Environmental Study (TESA) and Final Design of the project of the Photovoltaic Solar Plant Yunchara – Tarija with a power of about 5 MW.
In this project, Barlovento will perform the solar radiation, geotechnical, topographic, electrical, environmental, economic and design studies needed for the future construction of the Photovoltaic Solar Plant located in Yunchara – Department of Tarija -. Barlovento has been awardee of this tender due to its wide expertise in this type of projects and its active presence in Bolivia.
ENDE (Empresa Nacional de Electricidad) is searching new alternatives for the generation of electricity. Following theses objectives, ENDE works in the identification of areas with solar potential. According to the solar radiation map of the country, the province of Avilés has an estimated solar irradiation of 6-6,3 Kwh/m2/day, being one of the highest in the world. Therefore, ENDE through its subsidiary company, Guarachi S.A., is interested in installing a solar plant whose capacity is between 4 and 7 MWp, power which shall be determined and technically justified by means of the technical study, with the aim to displace the gas consumption, currently the greatest source of energy, for a renewable energy source.
At the moment, only another photovoltaic solar plant of 5 MW built in Cobija is in operation in the country.
Barlovento is present in Bolivia through Barlovento Recursos Naturales Sucursal Bolivia, which is located in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
