Barlovento Recursos Naturales S.L. has been awarded a contract for the Primary Tender 2-2016 “Feasibility Study for El Quijote Wind Project”, tendered by Empresa de Servicios Públicos de Heredia, S.A. in Costa Rica.

Barlovento resulted the successful bidder due to our wide expertise in this type of projects and our presence in LatAm for many years now.

Barlovento will carry out the wind resource, geotechnical, topographic, electrical, environmental, and logistical studies needed for the future construction of the wind plant in the province of Heredia.

According to the planning of the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE), Costa Rica has doubled up its electricity generation from wind energy between 2011 and 2015. During these years, wind power production has increased from a 4,25% up to a 10% at the end of last year.

Nowadays, Costa Rica has 13 wind generation plants, mainly in the North West of the country, most of them of private investments.

Barlovento has been working in the region for years now, and has references in Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua and Colombia, both in wind and solar projects.
